Bharti Airtel announced a major overhaul of its international roaming (IR) offerings on April 25, 2025, introducing India’s first IR plans with unlimited data in select options across 189 countries, in a move expected to boost customer convenience and global connectivity.
The telecom major also rolled out a ₹4,000 recharge plan with 1-year validity, aimed at the long-staying NRI community. This dual-purpose plan offers 5GB data and 100 voice minutes abroad, along with 1.5GB daily data and unlimited calls within India — all under a single plan, eliminating the need for separate domestic and international recharges.
Siddharth Sharma, Director of Marketing and CEO – Connected Homes, said, “We’ve dramatically simplified our IR plans that will truly redefine our value proposition. Customers can now roam across the globe with peace of mind.”
Key benefits of the new plans include:
-
Auto-activation upon landing overseas
-
In-flight connectivity
-
24×7 customer support
-
One plan for all 189 countries – no pack confusion across zones
-
Auto-renewal for frequent travelers
-
Complete control via the Airtel Thanks app
These new offerings are cheaper than most local SIM options abroad, according to the company, and aim to eliminate the hassle of acquiring foreign SIM cards altogether.
Airtel’s move comes amid rising global travel demand and increasing digital dependence. The stock could remain in focus as investors assess the long-term impact of this customer-centric innovation.
