Global Health shares rise over 2% as Medanta evaluates land offer for Assam hospital

Shares of Global Health Ltd, the operator of Medanta hospitals, jumped 2.35% to ₹1,224.05 in Monday’s trade after the company disclosed that it has received a formal offer from the Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL) for a 3-acre land parcel in Guwahati, Assam. The land is proposed for the development of a new super speciality hospital.

In a regulatory filing dated April 7, 2025, Global Health stated that the proposal from AEGCL marks a strategic opportunity for Medanta to expand into Northeast India. The company noted that it is currently evaluating the offer and would update the exchanges and investors on material developments.

This move aligns with Medanta’s ongoing efforts to extend its regional outreach and improve advanced healthcare access across underserved regions.

The stock opened at ₹1,217.35 and hit an intraday high of ₹1,235.00. Its market cap stood at ₹328.71 billion with an average volume of over 222,000 shares.
