Marathas determined to fight the court battle for reservation: Shinde

The Maharashtra Government led by sitting Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is determined to ensure reservations being made for the Maratha community.

Mumbai, March 16: The Maharashtra Government is determined to get reservation for the Maratha community, and would make a full and honest effort to realize the dream, Chief Minister

The court battle will be fought with full force from the government side, said Shinde. adding the central government’s help will be taken wherever necessary.

After the session of the legislature gets over, a task force of lawyers and all concerned will be held in Delhi, Informed the Chief Minister in the Legislative Council

“I will personally attend that meeting,” the Chief Minister said. He was speaking on the suggestion raised by the Maratha community regarding reservation.

Chief Minister Shinde detailed the stages of Maratha community reservation from 2018 to May 5, 2021.

The Chief Minister also informed that the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Maratha Community Reservation is also working under the chairmanship of Minister Chandrakant Patil.

The Chief Minister said that after the discussion with a large delegation regarding Maratha community reservation, there is no shortage in providing such financial facilities. He said that along with hostel facilities, scholarships, educational fee reimbursement, examination fee reimbursement, the credit limit of Annasaheb Patil Economic Backward Development Corporation has also been increased to 15 lakhs. The condition of share capital of the corporation is being pursued in the state level bankers committee meeting and also with the Union Minister of State for Finance.

A substantial provision has also been made in the budget to make funds available for this corporation, said Shinde. New schemes have been started for the youth of the Maratha community to get facilities and employment opportunities. A committee has been formed to get Kunbi Maratha certificates.

In particular, national documents such as charters and contracts of the Nizamshahi of Marathwada and Vidarbha are also being studied. Students of Maratha community Dr. Substantial funds have been allocated for the Punjabrao Deshmukh Hostel Scheme.

Students are also being given subsistence allowance through DBT. Funds of Rs 389 crore have been made available to Sarathi Sanstha so far. Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj Sarathi Scholarship Scheme, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Sarathi Youth Personality Development and Computer Skill Training, Rajmata Jijau Sarathi Skill Development Training, Shrimant Malojiraje Bhosle Sarathi Training under Indo-German Tool Room are also being emphasized.

The aim is to provide employment-self-employment to about one lakh Marathi youth. We are trying on a war footing for that. 20 persons from the families of the youths who were martyred in the Maratha community reservation movement have been inducted into the service in the State Transport Corporation. No one will be left behind. The Chief Minister also mentioned that the Kopardi murder case has been ordered to be heard immediately.

The Supreme Court appointed 1,553 candidates who were selected but not appointed as a majority before the cancellation of reservation, he said. Maratha community will be given all concessions and benefits of OBC till they get reservation. There will be no compromise in the benefits and concessions of OBCs. Chief Minister further said that care will be taken that no injustice will be done to them.

A task force of senior and experienced jurists has been formed for Maratha community reservation which includes Adv. Harish Salve, Adv. Rohatgi, Patwalia, Adv. Vijay Singh Thorat, Adv. Akshay Shinde, said Chief Minister.
